SeleniumConf 2026 Experience

I’m excited to share my experience at SeleniumConf 2026! This was an amazing event filled with insightful talks, great networking opportunities, and valuable interactions with the testing and automation community.

The Conference

SeleniumConf 2026 brought together passionate engineers, QA professionals, and developers from around the world. The energy was electric, and there was a strong focus on the latest trends in test automation and quality engineering.

My Talk: Quality on Autopilot: Scaling Testing in Uyuni

I had the privilege to present “Quality on Autopilot: Scaling Testing in Uyuni”, where I shared our journey of adopting TestOps practices to bring automation, visibility, and resilience into our quality engineering process at Uyuni.

Talk Overview

The presentation covered how we scale quality in a fast-moving open source project by implementing several key practices:

Infrastructure & Environment Automation

  • Using OpenTofu and Salt to lay the foundation for consistent, on-demand testing environments
  • Designing custom DevContainers to improve engineer experience on their IDEs

Test Observability & Analytics

  • Implementing Prometheus and Grafana to analyze historical trends and gain visibility into test behavior
  • Tracking flaky tests and known issues through a custom system that connects QE workflows with test reports

Smart Testing & Feedback Loops

  • Smart test selection in Pull Requests to target only affected components with relevant end-to-end tests
  • Integrated synthetic monitoring of key product metrics into daily pipelines for continuous health insights

Key Takeaway

Our journey demonstrates that small, iterative changes in quality engineering can help align quality with development at scale—a critical aspect of maintaining a healthy open-source project while moving fast.

The talk was well-received, and I appreciate all the great questions and discussions afterward. It’s always fulfilling to share knowledge with the community and learn from their experiences and perspectives.
